Warners is planning, according to sources, to release the extended four-disc editions of LOTR in Blu-Ray, but most likely as a separate package from the original theatrical release. An excellent source for Blu-Ray DVD information is DVDBeaver, and when they profile a release, they offer screen grab comparisons to make you, the buyer, even more informed as to content and quality. Keep watching, and be patient: LOTR is coming!

I am so disappointed in New Line Studios. When I first saw that Lord of The Rings Trilogy was to be released on Blu-Ray, I couldn't contain my excitement. Immediately, I put it on my wishlist for Christmas this year, and probably would not have waited for Santa to wrap it up and put it under the tree. But, when I found out this was only the theatrical version, I was enraged at the thought that New Line was trying to dupe everyone again to buy the movie twice, just like the original DVD releases. I gave my fell for New Line's trick, and learned my lesson when the Fellowship of the Rings was first released. I will not be purchasing this version of the Lord of the Rings. In fact I am half tempted to not purchase the Blu-Ray versions at all. But, alas, New Line has me with the fact that I can't wait to see LoTR in 1080P on my 110" screen.



Please boycott New Line's attempt at raking in the profits on the theatrical version and then the extended versions. Don't fall for their profit racket. There is plenty of room on a single Blu-Ray Disc to include both releases in a single package. I am willing to wait.

I am also an audiophile and very picky when it comes to quality in most everything I purchase. I recently bought my first Blu-ray player (LG) and this was my selection for my first Blu-ray DVD. I was going mainly from the huge number of positive reviews that had been registered. Incedible! I sat down with the intention of just watching a short portion until I had more time. I was immediately transported into a very unexpected escape... completely drawn into the screen. I watched the whole series that same day. I have since watched it again with friends. Simply fantastic. The camera work is unbelievable. The sound is worthy of the video quality. The production is off the charts. One of the best DVDs I have ever watched. Truly one to own. Also a great demo DVD for your home theater or your new HD screen.

I call for a boycott of this and every other studio rip-off release of great films onto any video format.



We got suckered with the intitial releases of our favorite movies onto DVD years ago featuring, usually, just a crappy transfer of the movie and maybe the theatrical trailer. Then, six months or a year later the studio would release the Über Special Edition with a clean, crip picture and lots of goodies for three times the price of the alreday too expensive initial release. And studios have been playing that game again with Blu-ray by releasing CRAPPY versions of Stargate, Terminator 2 and Total Recall and then coming out with over-priced special editions (though we're still waiting for a decent Total Recall BD.)



I say NO MORE!



We've been on to your game for years now, you despicable corporate... RINGWRAITHS! You're not the creative artists, you're the sniveling MBA creeps who are only in this business for the money. We're fans because we love these movies, not because we love you!
